About Us

Osteopathic Practitioner Kim treating a patient.

Classical osteopathy is unique in that we are concerned not only with symptoms such as a sore shoulder, sluggish digestion, or headache in isolation but also how these symptoms may result from asymmetry and restriction in other foundational areas of the body. Osteopathy is a science and philosophy that works its way back from the effects we are experiencing to their cause and then delivers treatment that considers the person as a whole.

Our osteopathic practitioner, Kim Cooper’s education is such that we are taught to base assessment and treatment on osteopathic principles rather than only techniques. These osteopathic principles are derived from a scientific understanding of anatomy, physiology, biology, and the laws of physics so that we may understand how our body responds to the influence of the gravitational loads we bear.

Our approach to osteopathy

Kimberly Cooper

Kim is a natural-born problem solver and wisdom seeker. She was competitive in multiple sports as a teen and into adulthood, had physically demanding jobs in various industries, and maintained rigorous life pursuits with a focus on training and riding horses. This lifestyle took a toll on her body. It was through navigating imbalance and injury prevention in the horses, as well as learning how to mitigate the debilitating effects of concussions, migraine headaches, and her spondylolisthesis diagnosis (a painful condition that affects the bones of the lumbar spine) that she discovered osteopathy. It was the first time she encountered a therapist who was able to discuss the effects of dysfunction and disease in the body from the structural perspective down to the cellular level. She had always been dissatisfied with conventional 'bandaid approaches' to health, and so began her pursuit of the most comprehensive osteopathic education available.

In 2019, Kimberly took a significant step in her osteopathic journey by enrolling in the 4-year program with the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy and obtained her Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manipulative Science (M.OMSc). She is a member in good standing with Osteopathy Canada (OSTCAN). OSTCAN is a national council that ensures patients are guaranteed a standard of practice regardless of the province in which they seek care. This membership requires a rigorous 4200 hours of education and a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice and training. About Us - Osteopathy Canada (ostcan.ca)

Kimberly lives on a small farm outside of High River, Alberta, with her husband and son. She still enjoys riding, raising, and training horses. She is currently enrolled in an equine osteopathic program that will be completed in 2026.
